l'académie de Gard!

Just received an email yesterday from "le conseiller pédagogique pour les langues vivantes étrangères de l'Inspection académique du Gard"...basically our go-to-guy for all things Gard & teaching!

(number 30, orange, in the south)
So - I will be somewhere in Gard! No work contract yet, but now I'm hoping for it within the next couple weeks since we've found out our académie. So exciting! Gard is just west of Provence (hooray!!), and not too far from Montpellier for the occasional weekend. It's southeast of Parc National des Cévennes - (http://eng.cevennes-parcnational.fr/) stretching from the Massif Central to the plains of Languedoc.

With luck, I will end up in Nimes - the capital city of the departement.
Here are some sites to check out :)

Supposedly there are tons of walking trails/circuits in the area, and with all of my spare time I may just decide on walking as my new hobby (as discussed with Sarah). Nimes is a Roman town, known for bullfighting, the Pont de Gard, blue jeans (?), the preserved arena, the 'Brandade', the 'Maison Carrée', olives, a special variety of strawberries...and so much more! It's great to finally know more of where I'll be for the next year & couldn't have come at a better time.

Next post, I will hopefully know my school(s) & city!

bisous :)
